Arjun Kurur presents microcomb-powered architecture for ultra-scalable data centers at OFC 2026

Our doctoral fellow, Arjun Kurur, presented his latest work on microcombs for ultra-scalable data centers at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC 2026), one of the world’s leading forums for optical communications and networking technologies.

The work introduces a new network architecture for scalable data centers powered by a single microcomb source. In the experimental demonstration, one microcomb was shown to meet the demands of an entire data-center network, providing the many wavelength channels needed for high-bandwidth interconnects from a single compact light source.

This result highlights microcombs as a key enabling technology for next-generation data-center interconnects, offering a pathway toward improved energy efficiency, higher bandwidth and system-wide scalability. The approach points toward greener, and more resilient infrastructures for future data-center and AI workloads.

The presentation drew a full room at OFC, reflecting the growing industry’s interest in next-generation data-center interconnects and the technologies that will shape them.
