At the three-day Science Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden, Tim introduced the concept of integrated photonics to a broad audience.
How can we transmit information quickly and efficiently across the world? How does light travel through optical fibers using total internal reflection? And how can this principle help us push the boundaries of modern technology?
These questions were explored through a hands-on laser setup, which demonstrated both the complexity of free-space optics and the advantages of confining light. To connect these ideas to integrated photonics, two microscopes were used to give visitors a glimpse into the world of nanotechnology.
