How does light travel through optical fibers using total internal reflection? And how can this principle help us push the boundaries of modern technology?

These questions were explored through a hands-on laser setup, which demonstrated both the complexity of free-space optics and the advantages of confining light. To connect these ideas to integrated photonics, two microscopes were used to give visitors a glimpse into the world of nanotechnology.

At the three-day Science Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden, Tim introduced the concept of integrated photonics to a broad audience.
